Joint stewardship plan to monitor Luna to be signed this week

Amid increasing threats posed by Luna (L-98), the orphaned orca living in Nootka Sound, B.C, the Canadian federal government will spend $10,000 over the next two months to monitor the whale. The funding will help implement the Luna Stewardship Plan -- an agreement between the Department of Fisheries and Oceans and the Mowachaht/Muchalaht First Nation. See the full stories at CBC Vancouver and Canada.com.

A boat owner, speaking of the second "attack" by Luna on his moored vessel says, "It was kind of cute a few years ago when he was just a little guy, but this is ridiculous." See the rest of the story in the Victoria Times-Colonist.
